Every few months, I love to evaluate the makeup brushes that I love and have been using a lot. Sometimes they change or sometimes I add to the ones I already love. Here are my current favorite brushes.
Real Techniques Setting Brush
I use this brush when I set my make with powder on days when I feel super oily. I also use it for setting the concealer under my eyes.
Pinkx27 blending brush
I received this brush in an issue of Cosmo mag a few years ago. It quickly became one of my favourite makeup brushes. It blends crease shadow amazingly well with its synthetic bristles.
Cala 311 Blending Brush
I am a firm believer of only needing blending brushes to apply eyeshadow. I use this bad boy to apply shadow to my lids as well as blend out darker eyeshadows in the crease.
Dala No 4
Ever looked for the perfect brush but couldn’t find it? I was looking for a tiny brush to create hair like strokes for my brows, but the ones I found were all too thick. So I bought a paint brush set for Robbie and in it I found this tiny brush. With the snip of a scissors, I created the perfect brow brush. It is tiny enough to create individual hair strokes and fill a brow.
Real Techniques Buffing Brush
This has to be the best brush for getting a flawless foundation finish. It buffs the foundation into the skin and doesn’t leave any streaks on the face.
Real Techniques Blush Brush
Looking for the perfect blush brush? One that applies just the right amount of blush onto the cheeks? Look no further than this one. It will give you a seamless application and just the right amount of color.
Real Techniques Contour Brush
On days when I do want to contour, I love the small rounded bristles of this brush. It picks up enough product and places it exactly where is needs to be. It also blends the product into the perfect shadow under the cheek.
Cala 301 Powder Brush
With its large, fluffy head, this powder brush will apply product without moving your foundation around. It is soft and won’t scratch your face.
Cosmo Blending Brush
Another gem I found in the June Cosmo mag. It is marketed as a blending brush, but I wouldn’t use it for blending eyeshadow. I rather use it to blend my concealer under my eyes and around pimples. The bristles are soft so it won’t tug at the skin around your eyes. My friend and fellow blogger, Chevy, uses hers as a highlighter brush.
Real Techniques Bold Metals 300
For me this is the perfect highlighting brush. It applies highlighter to the high tops of the cheeks seamlessly and is also great for applying highlighter under the brows with its thinner tip.
Burst Blending Brush
I have had this brush for over 4 years now and it hasn’t frayed or broken. It blends eyeshadow evenly and applies like a dream. It is honestly the best brushes ever. It is an all rounder, as it can apply all over colour, as well as blend dark colours into the crease with ease.
Burst brushes can be bought online or from independent sellers only.
